To Dance with Destiny By W. L. Hawkin

What do you expect to read after “once upon a time” ? Keep that in mind, because it won’t be what you’ll get from To Dance with Destiny by W. L. Hawking. The good news? The surprise will be delightful, witty, funny, and what follows can only be described as bloody chaos.

A strong and interesting start that pump us with questions left and right. We have a desire for more, and this is only the first page.

What can you expect? A whole lot. Let us say that you will be thrown with vampires fighting on a yacht, Greek gods and time-travel as appetizers.

This, erotica-laden Mystery is charged with hot scenes, tension, and thriller. W. L. Hawkin moves the story’s genres from the background to the front, and serves you with twists when you need the most.

Imagine the pain of having to save your loved one, the love of your life, from an addiction and a disease that he “chose”. To add more drama, you played a role into that, and now, for every second that passes, he is falling deeper into the rabbit, or might we say, vampire-hole (pun intended). Will you call the help of the Gods, and put yourself as an offer to have him or her back? Oh the dillema, hahahahaha.

There is one thing that vampire lovers will adore in To Dance With Destiny, and that we approve, and that is the originality of the approach to being a vampire. Combine that with the how becoming a vampire is told here in the book, then you get a completely new experience. In order to tease you without spoiling much, as always, let us just say that… remember that thing that it’s said that the bite of a vampire is aphrodisiac? Yeah… that, and much more. Lol.

The amount of lovers and past-romances that the characters have between each other is surprising. They seem as if they always want more adventures and sexual experiences, or at least relive them. This creates a lot of drama, and at times, rivalry between lovers that were past, and want to be again. Once you add that to the dilemmas of the book and the mission they are in, emotions will sizzle. How much? Imagine this: Your ex-lover, the love of your life, is becoming a vampire, and you want to kill his new lover that has fangs. Or… that you are starting to ruffle the sheets with the best-friend of your ex-lover and close friend. You know? The usual stuff, lol.

Although this has many erotica and fantasy/paranormal-ish elements, there are parts where the mystery puts you on edge. This works great because it’s a nice shift from the charged scenes of love, passion and sadness abundant in the book. W. L. Hawking knows how to describe emotion to the point where it drags you with it. It’s beautiful.

The mixture of fantasy, folklore, mythology, time-travel and erotica gives an unique blend to the book. Although the homosexual vibes are strong in the book, you have normal couples as well.

There is a thing between two of the main characters, Estrada and Sorcha (derived from previous books), that still sparks at times, although Sorcha is pregnant with the baby of one of Estrada’s male friends. It’s “complicated”, as some say, so if you like these types of relationships and books, you want to read this series.

The sexual tension is high and it’s kept like that for a good long time between characters, be them gay or lesbians. There are also hetero moments, yet not as common, we have to say.

There are hints of battles, both past and future, that provide thrilling parts to read, jolting us when we get somewhat relaxed with nature and love scenes.

It’s super funny how, in this concept of time-travel, the main character actually starts to cause, and delete, certain events that he and the Horned (and horny) God wants to avoid. It’s even funnier, to realize that even so, both of them hop up and down timelines. In this hoping, one is more excited than the other due to the “offerings” he will “give” and “take” from the main character.

It’s interesting to read when you notice that this version of the Horned God is never displayed as cruel. He is only happy to help.

W. L. Hawking, the author, has done some serious research about magic and healing. Given that two of our main characters are acient, one a bard and another a druid, there are, of course natural elements that we would expect them to know. The author did not disappoint in this aspect.

It is fun, and new to read the druid, Conall, talking to trees, plants and having conversations with them to help them out. It makes you want to try and do it yourself, like, who knows, we may hear something leafy, lol. Natural healing practitioners will love this.

Now, is the book just sex, teasing, drama, and suspense? Mostly, yes, yet there are fights and thrilling moments because the MCs are also warriors on a rescue mission trying to kill sexy vampires.

Once again, this book leans into the LGBT category of mysteriesl (and smut) while having elements of drama, folklore, mythology and mystery. It’s quite the experience. So, if you are into gay couples going round with vampires, well, look no further, To Dance with Destiny by H. L Hawkin is the book for you. Oh, and this is the 5th book in the series, so there is plenty more to go around, hahahahah. Grab your copy and enjoy the bites.
