Dr. Roger Leslie, an Award-Winning author and renowned international speaker now tells all in his newest memoir that speaks to life as a gay man and the challenges and the celebrations around that!

The book is published by Paradise Publishing and will be available this June worldwide in print and e-book format

Dr. Roger Leslie is a highly accredited author, international speaker, and one of the first residents in the Houston area to receive the Houston Literary Award for his body of work at their inaugural event. Roger is also gay and for the longest time, only his closest friends and specific book industry affiliates knew that, Until now.

Roger has just released his debut memoir Light Come Out of the Closet: Memoir of a Gay Soul, a memoir that tells Roger’s story in life as a gay man, but also a riveting testament into the challenges and tribulations for anyone who identifies life within the LGTBQ community and strives for equality in human spirit.

Roger’s journey includes many accolades specifically within the writing community, but there are challenges being a gay man and the memoir tells all focusing on the forty-year loving relationship that Roger has had with his spouse Jerry and speaking to the emotional rollercoaster of living life in a gay marriage where they have been judged, forced to overcome challenges brought on by views of society, and ultimately the celebration of being together despite all obstacles.

As Leslie says himself, “Quite early, I came to terms with the fact that I was gay. But as a spiritual person, I assumed that my sexual orientation meant that I was fundamentally flawed and would have to live without love. That terrifying revelation directed me toward an unprecedented journey that opened my life and elevated my destiny. My determination to live—and love—lit my path on the journey that redefined my life, showed me what mettle I was made of, and revealed to me, my soul.” It is this very mindset that readers of the memoir can take away from and realize that in both love and life there may be challenges, but for those who persevere their relationship can grow and anything positive that can be done, will be done!

How do we live with a God, or ourselves, if who we are dooms us to Hell?

Light Come Out of the Closet is a memoir of a gay man’s struggle to reconcile his sexuality with his faith. It explores his journey of rediscovering the God of love he learned about as a child and how being gay became a gift that helped him find his soul.

This book is a powerful testament to hope, healing, and self-discovery in the face of prejudice and adversity.
