Are you looking for a book that will give you gentle motivation while giving you encouragement in the places that you need it most? Soul Rich by Kalee Boisvert isn’t another “this is how you make money quickly” or anything like that type of book. Soul Rich is a book that guides you on a path toward “emotional wisdom with financial clarity.” Soul Rich is a motivational novel that will guide readers, most specifically women toward a path that will help them build a positive relationship with money.

When you first glimpse the cover of Soul Rich, it doesn’t immediately convey what you’ll find within its covers. What you see first is a small black handbag in the middle of a light pink background. The handles of the handbag are standing up, and the two zippers are split so there is one on each side. Simple. Symmetrical. Simplistically elegant.

While the cover of Soul Rich by Kalee Boisvert doesn’t immediately convey what you can expect from this book, it is sure to pique your interest. Your curiosity will pull at you to at the very least to pick the book up (if you’re in a bookstore) or check out the blurb if you’re looking at it online.

Author Boisvert begins Soul Rich with an introduction that helps put her book into perspective for readers right from the beginning. Author Boisvert lets us know from the first sentence that Soul Rich is not a book that is going to help you get rich fast or anything like that. Soul Rich is going to be more along the lines of being encouraging, revelatory, and inspiring.

Soul Rich is a book that gently works to reassure readers with each sentence and page that while money holds its degrees of importance…it is not the end-all, be-all. Author Boisvert sets the stage with the very first chapter with a stanza-style writing that makes this book easy to digest and read.

“You’re not here to prove yourself.

You’re here to live from who you already are.

That’s your wealth.

That’s the real proof.”

Author Boisvert’s style of writing in this format keeps the reader engaged in what is being said and keeps it in bite-sized pieces. Through this, we believe that readers are more likely to be inclined to focus on what author Boisvert is conveying in Soul Rich. The nuggets of hope and motivation begin with the setting of a foundation to establish a sense of understanding.

Each chapter in Soul Rich gives readers a section that establishes a connection between the author and the reader. Author Boisvert is letting us know that she understands the feelings that we’re feeling. But those feelings don’t need to be the defining element of our lives.

From there, author Boisvert pivots to sections focusing on “Money Wisdom.” These “Money Wisdom” segments offer encouragement in the simplest way. In Soul Rich, author Boisvert gives us readers a gentle reminder that “Money isn’t the enemy. And it’s not the answer to everything either.” So often, even today, we think, “Well, if I just had enough, it would solve a lot of my problems.” While that may be true, it should not be the foundation of our thought process.

At the end of each chapter in Soul Rich, author Boisvert really brings it home for us readers. Author Boisvert offers us a step-by-step process to really take a step back, take a breath, and really analyze the situation and ourselves. These simple steps offer a guide to looking deeper into ourselves. They ask the question of – “What is driving you?” “What have you made yourself believe when it comes to your finances?” “What steps/ways can you take to rewrite your story for a better tomorrow?”

“Wanting something doesn’t make you greedy.

It makes you honest.

Desire doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate what you have.

It means you’re alive.”

Frequently throughout Soul Rich author Boisvert touches on elements that many of us surely struggle with when it comes to our finances. We justify the struggle and the stress that we heap upon ourselves. But author Boisvert writes to assure us that this is not necessary. Constant sacrifice and wearing ourselves thin doesn’t need to be the way that things are done.

In every chapter of Soul Rich, author Boisvert encourages with a gentle touch and an acknowledging word that we need to look deeper. That it’s okay. It’s okay to want more than what we have. It’s okay to not count every penny and every cost. Especially when you have finally achieved a milestone that we’ve been working towards. She softly reminds us not to always be so quick to “move the goal posts,” so to speak. Allow yourself to experience and enjoy the success you have accomplished.

Asking for help? There’s nothing shameful in that. Taking a minute for yourself? It’s okay! Soul Rich is a refreshing novel that is brimming with hope and encouragement. Author Boisvert offers small nuggets of guidance and comfort with each turn of the page and line that you read. Author Boisvert utilizes Soul Rich to offer a gentle reminder that “It’s okay.” The pressure that you’re putting on yourself is not necessary.

Soul Rich is a short novel, but readers will notice a lot of repetition throughout. It honestly makes sense to repeat a lot of what author Boisvert touches on. These repeated moments are meant to remind us and make sure that we fully comprehend and hold on to what it is that is being related to us. Otherwise, how else are you going to retain it?

Soul Rich is a book where the target audience is primarily women, but we don’t think it’s a stretch to believe that men can also gain something from this book as well. If nothing more than to be able to better understand their partners and offer comfort and assistance. It is a comforting book to read for any and all who to choose to pick it up. With easy-to-digest chapters, and helpful prompts to encourage assessment and personal evaluation, Soul Rich is a must-read for those looking for even the smallest bit of encouragement during a struggling financial time.
