The Adventures of Brett and Space Turtle by J. B. Williams

Humor, balant and dry humour welcomes you to the book, and it rips a smile off your face before the first paragraph ends, which is a great way to start a book.

So we have our main character in a 9-to-5 job, in a city that is going through hell style heatwaves for the summer, that is aware and unsatisfied with his condition on the rat race like his other friends, but the intriguing part is that the friends have a solid point for staying in the rat race, something that goes off the plot for many books. Cool detail from the author.

After all the discussions about fighting pimps and stabings as adventure opportunities, an alien turtle invades the Earth. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, and this is the point of the book. An alien, space turtle that can travel faster than the speed of light, yet, tells you that it’s slow, because it is a turtle.

You see, this short story was meant to be silly, outrageous and dumb and brings that fast in the plot, continuing to deliver the same structure throughtout.

The plot twist comes fast, and apparently these turtles are “summoned” by humans when they want an adventure, an adventure of their lifetimes indeed.

In this short story, there is comedy, a little philosophy and horror as well, because it seems like we have to be grateful for what we have and not look for what else can be out there, unless we are willing to pay the price.

A cool read indeed, so if you want to check out something that will make you laugh, tilt your head in confusion in less than 20mins, then, this short story is something you definetly need to check out, here’s the link to it.
