Readers who enjoyed author Peter Pontsa’s book, Outfoxed, book one in his Inspector William Fox series, will be excited to pick up his latest book. Author Peter Pontsa is back with Sanctity of Freedom where Inspector William Fox will be off on a new thrill ride of an adventure. Packed with drama, tension, and edge-of-your-seat suspense, readers will not want to miss out on this gripping novel.
Sanctity of Freedom, book two in the Inspector William Fox series draws the eye of readers with a dark cover that gives a sense of something ominous. A predominately black background greets readers’ eyes. In the center is a glowing orange mist with a woman running through it. Where is she running to? Is she running to something? Or is she running away? Readers can see sparse plants along the ground, giving a sense of open ground and desolation. The shadows give a sense of danger, which piques readers curiosity to see what is happening.

As Sanctity of Freedom begins author Pontsa immediately gives readers an ominous sense that a loss of life is soon at hand. A North Korean defector has no idea that his life is literally seconds away from ending – all it will take is for him to say one fateful word that will seal his fate. Readers will still be reeling from the scene that just played out when author Pontsa shifts gears. Quickly, the story shifts to William Fox and his girlfriend, Tracy Jordan.
William and Tracy are out looking to have an enjoyable afternoon together at the beginning of Sanctity of Freedom. Author Pontsa stays true to character by giving William’s cigarette boat, The Midnight Fox a stint in the spotlight. Similar to how book one, Outfoxed, played out in its opening chapter. Everything seems like things are going well for the couple. However, author Pontsa says that it’s time for William Fox to put on his inspector hat, and get involved in this latest murder.
It all kicks off with the murder victim being discovered and William hearing the call on his radio. The police on scene discover a note in the murder victim’s pocket and William pieces together who it was meant for. In Sanctity of Freedom, William takes it upon himself to confront his friend and see if he can discover any clues as to why this man would be searching for him. Mr. Kim believes strongly that the note is from his long-lost sister, and this is the first sign of life from her that he has had since they were children.

In Sanctity of Freedom, the first few chapters alternate in time between May 2019 and April 2019. This story drops backwards in time before jumping back forward to May 2019 which is where it eventually settles in for the remainder of the story. There will be flashbacks through memories, but author Pontsa doesn’t shift the story back to those specific moments in time.
Told from the third person POV, Sanctity of Freedom follows Inspector William Fox for the majority of the story. Readers who enjoy a variety of characters will appreciate being reunited with William’s friend, Mr. Kim, and learning more about him. In this book, author Pontsa takes readers around the world starting in Canada before heading out to China, South Korea, and North Korea.
Readers get to discover multiple things about Mr. Kim and his history. All of this stems from the murder that takes place at the beginning of Sanctity of Freedom. The murder victim ties back to Mr. Kim’s sister who was stolen away from him when they were teens. It’s been decades since that heartbreaking day. Author Pontsa doesn’t leave readers twisting in the wind. He informs readers, through memories, everything that transpired that led up to Mr. Kim’s sister ending up in North Korea.
As most can guess, when William decides to get involved in this particular case, his girlfriend is far from pleased. It seems like his involvement might drive a wedge in their relationship. One thing is for sure, and that is that readers will see their relationship go through a rollercoaster of situations as Sanctity of Freedom unfolds.

Sanctity of Freedom is a truly gripping suspense thriller that takes readers on a whirlwind trip around the world. Once again author Pontsa drops readers across the world in South East Asia where danger is prevalent. Characters have to worry about kidnappers, assassins, and the threat of espionage. Readers can expect to be pulled to the edge of their seats as they wonder – how will this all play out?
Familiar names return in Sanctity of Freedom. William’s friend, Patrick, from the FBI makes a return. Things are all good until they aren’t. The friendship between these two men will definitely be tested in this novel. Author Pontsa will leave readers wondering if things can ever be repaired by William and Patrick. Is it something truly egregious? Not necessarily, but in the world of professionalism…it’s something that Patrick feels strongly about.
Author Pontsa throws in a small twist when it comes to William’s personal life. When William and his girlfriend discover that they are pregnant, the story shifts into a (unfortunately) predictable pattern. Both characters immediately begin wondering how this will impact their lives. The pregnancy angle of the story unfortunately is not as believable as the rest of the story. It’s not allowed to unfold naturally. They find out and immediately start telling everyone – only for tragedy to strike.

When it comes to Sanctity of Freedom this novel unfolds in a realistic manner that will have readers thinking that they could travel to these places. The story is gripping and a page-turner with engaging characters that draw you in and leave you wanting more. You’ll find yourself literally on the edge of your seat in the hopes that everything works out for Mr. Kim, especially. There will be elements of romance, but nothing graphic will play out on the page. Instead, author Pontsa keeps everything faded to black and allows readers to use their imagination.
True to form author Pontsa wraps up Sanctity of Freedom nice and neat. Readers get globe-trotting thrills, realistic situations overall, and engaging characters. There are clues that William Fox will return in another book as one particular side character makes a sly escape. So, it will be interesting to see if that character makes a return and has a bigger presence.
Readers who enjoy suspense thrillers will want to pick up this latest Inspector William Fox novel. Packed with drama, suspense, and thrills Sanctity of Freedom will pull you to the edge of your seat and keep you coming back for more. Sanctity of Freedom is a gripping follow-up to author Pontsa’s debut novel, Outfoxed, and worth checking out.
