I really enjoyed this story. This book was very heavy in different cultures and the teachings of each one as it was specific to the characters. This added a lot more dimensions to the character and also taught me, as the reader, things about their culture. Now whether or not some of that is not true, I couldn’t tell you but it made me believe.

The book moves from three different points of view with each character telling their own versions of events. Bernie was trying to find himself under the pressures of growing up knowing he was to take over his family’s beef business. Everything he did in his life has led up to him going to school to fulfill his duty as the son of a farmer.
Sheik was similar in that respect to Bernie. He grew up under the riches and authority of his father’s regime and was bred to take over when he eventually stopped working as well. Sheik had a lot of demands placed on his shoulders and I could feel his internal conflicts as they unfolded in the story.
Rosie was different but also similar to the other two characters. She grew up in the hills and worked hard but was not as fortunate as Bernie and Sheik. She wasn’t made to take over a business but she helped her dad in making sure the family had enough to eat, keep bears away, and work to help with the finances.

The three characters eventually come together and even though they are different, they are also a lot alike, which bonds them together while they go through their journey.
This book was touching and heart warming with a lot of lessons woven into the plot, which made the book even better. I was captivated by the scenery and I could picture myself within the mountains of Canada, going on this adventure myself.
There were some twists and turns, and things you don’t see coming but the overall flavor of the book is immaculate and rich with storytelling.
There weren’t many errors but I did notice a few while reading. The pace was congruent throughout and there weren’t many parts that slowed, it was one of those books that kept you interested, even if you were biting your nails trying to figure out what was going to happen next and how the book was going to end.
My personal opinion is the ending was wrapped up too pretty for me, it was a great happily ever after kind of thing but I wanted a bit more hanging on the edge of my seat waiting in anticipation, palms sweaty, kind of ending. However, it was a good ending and I think most, if not all, people will be satisfied with how it went.
Overall, I definitely recommend this book to others. If you want a quick story with a heartwarming adventure, this is the book for you.
I hope you give it a chance too!
