This is one of those books that the title makes you curious and the relevant first words you read captivate you.

The title: “Peace At The Midst Of The Storm” creates images that invite you to think upon it. How can we be peaceful when battered by a storm? When chaos rules our lives? How can we be peaceful at those moments? Is it possible? We will surely find out in this book, because it seems like the author, Kaleb Thompson has been through some whirlwinds and has got some answers that were blowing in the wind.
Yes, it is poetry, and yes, poetry is hugely underrated as a genre but, this book is a title that is needed in today’s time. The beautiful dedication will set the tone of the book and you will feel the inviting atmosphere that It exudes. Talk about great first impressions eh?
A curious thing, that will make this book even more relatable to you, is that it’s also spiritual/religiously inclined. There are passages of the bible, and many poems demonstrate a relation to faith and beliefs in god.
Comforting and grateful words are found from the beginning of the book as the author talks a little to the reader, as if to prepare each and every one of us for the journey ahead. Very nice!
“ When the storm in your life is raging, remember that it will not last always. This life wasn’t promised to be easy for all of us, but we were graced with the vital strength to endure through even the most difficult challenges.”
– Kaleb Thompson
As we said: underrated. The first poem, Going Through, has some lines that are too beautiful and thought-provoking to not read twice, and the poems structure takes us by surprise, as Kaleb’s style of writing verse is not common, presenting long lines as standard and the rhymes don’t sound forced, which is always a plus!

Not only Kaleb’s words are inviting, but also gripping due to their honesty, vulnerability, which, we assure you dear reader, that it will touch you as you relate them. There is no way you can ignore these pronouncements.
There is a strong connection between the the author and god, that he calls many times: “Father God”, a sweet and reverent title indeed, to which many other people of faith will surely relate to, as it is highly devotional and spiritual, shall we say.
There is the sharing of experiences, sensations and even moods on each poem, to which readers will find intriguing, not only because we will be, at first, instinctively looking for rhyming verses, finding them scattered throughout the book but also because Kaleb Thompson invites reflection upon how we feel, think and see things This will be both surprising and mind-opening, as it will invite you to enjoy a different and oddly comfy style of poetry, that sounds like a “melodic versed narration“. This gives this book a vibe of it’s own, and to the author, Kaleb, another reason for readers to remember him. Well done!
On the motivational side, although it’s tied to religious beliefs, this book has gold nuggets of motivational messages between the lines, be it through advices or observations
“ As I self-reflect on life’s difficult challenges and bountiful blessings
– Kaleb Thompson
Being stricken with anxiety yet embracing divine prayer
Your evident grace and mercy has strengthened me to keep pressing “

This book soothes, motivates, strengthens the relationship and admiration to the Christian god, and it also encourages growth, personal growth, through its soft and well-thought words.
While reading this beautiful book, it hit me that there could be less words to convey the message, and the length of the book, 86 pages, invites for a steady reading, specially a few poems a day, in order to better bathe in the messages of the author in each poem.
You can see that the author, Kaleb, is talking from his heart and has passed through some challenging times himself, so these advices are charged with conviction and will lift the reader up in the dire circumstances in life, both through the encouragement of prayer as the reminder that we can take a step back and breath in order to gather our strengths!
This is a book that, if you are devoted to god, and are going through some rough times, you should keep it with you at all times. A must read.
