March’s Reports and Stats

The Book Reviews ARE BACK!

In the month’s report, we informed our readers, friends and clients that we would “close” reviews for a few months in order to improve the quality of the service, gather resources, and bring in new team members. Well, we were able to do all that, and more, in less than 3 weeks.

Second-best month, AGAIN

OK! We have had the second-best month of our blog, again! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, with 824 views and 420 visitors. And here’s the coolest thing about this: We only reviewed 4 books in the entire month, 65% down from average!! Hahahahahaha!

Yes, we DID post a lot of “info” related posts, and those helped a lot, true, but the spikes that you see on the graph were because of the book review posts, being the highest spike when we reviewed the “I want to tell you my story” by Denise Bowles and the remarkable “A Proper Contentment” by Ned Hopkins, reviewed by Ashleigh Bonner.

And… we grew on followers, too! We are now with 80 Followers in total, keeping the steady gain of 5/month average, and it’s AMAZING! Small, but AMAZING! We can do 100! We can do 100! Hahahahahahahaha

Bumps on the Road

During this hectic month, many good things happened, as you have read, but I have to admit that there were certain moments that I failed to perform.

The worst of them was with our client, Robert, that trusted me to make his book review before the 7th, and I assure him that I could, but lacked to keep the promise. I am truly ashamed of myself and disappointed with the fact that I have let a client down, and broken my word. I will not give excuses to attempt to improve it, it was my fault and mine alone and nothing I say will fix that.

The other moment I failed was when it came to secure a deal with Wood Dragon Books. They have shown interest in working with us, and I wasn’t stellar in dealing with such a refined Lady who is Mrs. Jeanne. I have let down my team, Wood Book Dragons, and the person who recommended us to the Head of the publisher.

I am ashamed of myself for not being good enough to hold these deals and to have failed in such a crucial moment. Improvements on my part are a must.

The termination of one of the contracts with one of our major clients was also a huge (yet necessary) blow to the company. But we will thrive, despite. We will.

Nowhere but up! YEAH!

The GREAT thing about this is that now, we can truly focus on our main purpose: To be an INDIE book reviewer site, and an improvement resource hub for individual INDIE Writers!

This was a blessing disguised because now we have MORE time for the reviews we have received so far, we can have lower prices AND we can help even more Indie Writers daily! This will be AWESOME!!!!!! WOHOOOO!!!! YEAH!

A better view on Review spots

We always said that our review spots were limited, but we never allowed our clients to see how many review spots were available.
This, created another problem: we didn’t have a high control of review spots, which affected our performance, not in reviews by themselves, but on having time to promote our clients books on social media, reducing our quality of service significantly.

Thanks to the time taken to step back and look at this issue, we came out with a simple solution!

A countdown.
Yes. That’s it. A countdown. 🙂
The countdown, that is based upon the number of reviewers available and the time it takes to make a review, will be located in the Submission’s Page.

What’s our current number of reviews per month? Well, 10. It’s 10. Hahahhahahhaha, yes, convenient ugh?  This will give time for each reviewer to review 3-4 books during the month, and then help out on other aspects of the site, increasing the quality of service exponentially!

We will also put a FREE Review counter, with 1-2 books/month, available for every client, as soon as our TBR List decreases (probably next year). Hahahahahahah.

Increasing sales chances and marketing efforts for our clients.

Scribble’s Worth Book Reviews is not only a review site for Indie Writers, but also a promotional site for Indie Books. We have, since the beginning, done our best, with the time and resources we have, to increase the chances of each and every book to get sales.

We have created E-mags with many tips from the best and most successful Indie Writers, to help writers help themselves when it comes to increasing their changes to get sales. This, along with other free materials and resources, has helped many writers.

We will start to make more efforts towards our Goodreads presence, to make our promotional efforts more effective and link books with readers directly.
This project, will be tested during the next semester, and we will evaluate the results before we make claims.

Managing expectations

So, we realized that for a time now, two months or so, we weren’t fulfilling our word that said that we would review a book “within 3-5 days”, even though we said that we would do that “after we start reading your book”.

I accept that is my fault for not updating the review turnover time after the blog started to grow, and clients started to pour in, so I apologize for that, and please let me know by a DM on Twitter, or an E-mail how you felt like, or how that has affected you and I will do what it needs to be done about it.

Having that said, we updated the review turnover time to “within the month”, which always has been true and it frames costumer expectations better.
I realize that this has affected costumer’s trust, and we have felt it this month, so, in the spirit of always wanting to serve you better, we adapted to you, and your expectations.

Little changes!

So, I want to thank, (and almost kneel and cry dramatically ) to Ashleigh Bonner, for her, EXCELLENT and PIVOTAL editing services and help this month when it came to the editing made on the site pages. I would also like to thank her for pointing out the new book reviewers now on our fabulous Team.

If you are a book reviewer, or love to read books, and you want to work with us, send an email or tweet to any of us regarding it.

So! Changes.
As you may notice, the blog is… different. Not entirely different, but slightly different. We focused not only in making it more “functional” by eliminating all the clutter, (thank you, Ashleigh, for that), but by making it more “precise”. How?

Well, we make daily (if not hourly) measurements of the data of the site, and we see which pages are frequented the most.

Having this in mind, we changed the organization of the blog so readers and writers find what they want more easily. (If you have inputs and suggestions, please put it on the comments :))

We added LOTS of new information, so writers can have a clearer idea of what they will get from our services and how we work (Visit the Writer’s Hub, Q&A’s and the Info sectors for more).

Our team is GROWING!!!

What If I told you that now, we have the official help of none other than…. Rebecca Weber, one of the most interactive, kindest and fun members of the Writing Community!

She has been, since day one , a critical source of help in making Scribble’s Worth what it is today, and what it will become soon.
We are rejoiced to have her on The Team and her always high energy, and humor, helps our team maintain the cohesive strength it has. Thank you, Rebbeca and welcome!

A few months back, there was the need for Scribble’s to grow.  We required an excellent book reviewer that was versatile, passionate, with a keen eye for details and could down a book like a glass of water without compromising quality. We found everything and more when we looked at Bunny’s work!

She is not only a high-spirited person, kind and fun, but she is also a lover of fantasy and romance! SOOOOOOO, fantasy authors, you have someone who fully understands and loves your work with the very matter of her bones!

Bunny is spectacular in what she does, and we love having her in our team.

The Book Trollop is the newest member of Scribble’s Worth team! Were elated to see how happy she was to join us when we explained our mission of helping readers find very well-written Indie Books, while helping Indie Writers find readers that will rave about theirs!

She was super excited to join us hahahahahah, then and there we knew she was a perfect fit for this incredible and diverse team.

She is a dire romance lover, and this will improve the chances of Romance authors to pass. So don’t be afraid to submit your book, and we will send it to her right away, XD.

What does this means to you, dear Indie Writers?

1- Review style diversity

Although Scribble’s Worth Book Reviews protocols are hard set out to keep uniformity , when it comes to the reviewing method, there is a VERY loose restriction when it comes down to style and opinion of the book. In fact, there are NO restrictions. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
We want this because each reviewer has its style to connect with readers, and this will allow us to measure which reviews are more effective in convincing readers to buy and why, and learn from it. XD, We are always improving.

2-Increased distribution

Given that every book reviewer has a book blog, we are looking up ways to make the most of each review by spreading it to every possible blog that is working with us, without violating Google’s Terms. We are still figuring it out. BUT there is already an increased exposure by the means of social media thanks to the combined number of followers, not only on Twitter, but on GOODREADS, were most of the book lovers live. XD

This will also increase the overall numbers of distribution of the E-mag and Book Catalog on the medium-term future. For now, we will keep it stable @ 3,000+ readers in total.

That’s all we have to report, thank you for your preference and trust.

Best regards,

Julio Carlos
