OK! It’s TRUE. Scribble’s Worth Book Reviews is the most selective book review site of Twitter Writing Community, and one of the most selective book review and promotional sites on the NET. YES! We reject an average of 50% of the books we get. Or do we?
Contrary to what many writers might think, or assume, we do not “reject” books. We never did.
Our reviewers only measure the writing quality a book.
Our reviewers have no right to “like” or “dislike” a book, no matter the genre or author. If a book is good enough to provide an awesome and valuable book experience for readers, then, it SHALL pass! No Gandalfs here.
Our reviewers look for both the good and the bad aspects of the book, specially things like typos, grammatical errors, bad editing or lack thereof, bland characters, narrative skills, and above all Clichés. Here’s the scale that we now use to measure every book against our tough standards.
As you can see, if a book isn’t well written, it will not stand a chance whatsoever, and we will NOT post the review of a bad book.
So, your book isn’t rejected, it just doesn’t pass our standards. Many times we LOVED a book, but we didn’t write a review because it needed editing (we have roughly a book like this every month).
How does our Selectivity helps boosting your Success as an Indie Writer?
It’s simple:
1- High Reader’s trust
When readers come to our site, they know that all books reviewed are incredible and thoroughly “tested” so, they just have to pick which book they want to buy without worrying about reading a poorly written book, which increases your chances of getting a sale.
2- You have LESS books to compete against
Scribble’s Worth Book Reviews has lots of books reviewed, (so far we have ~ 110 books reviewed), BUT only 5-6 in each category (on average), some categories only have 2 books! So, it’s easier for readers to find your book, and easier for us to recommend your book to the readers. In the end, having your book reviewed by us is an advantage.
3- Quality talks here
Although we make NO distinctions, and we have our favourites, quality takes the lead here. The better written the book, the more we will recommend it. Ok, we do our best to mix things up, but when people ask for the BEST books, we go to the top of the ladder. It’s natural.
So, yes, that’s the type of book review site and service we envisioned for Indie Writers, as we felt, and see that this is what a writer would dream of and want.
